It oversees the admission process for courses like B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) in both government and private nursing institutions across the state. Eligibility Criteria:
B.Sc. Nursing: Candidates must be Indian citizens and possess a domicile certificate of Chhattisgarh. They should have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as mandatory subjects, securing a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). Applicants must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2025. Additionally, the entrance exam is typically open only to female candidates, while male and transgender applicants may be eligible under the management quota.
M.Sc. Nursing: Candidates must hold a B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, or B.Sc. Hons Nursing degree from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) . Applicants should be registered nurses and midwives with the State Nursing Council. A minimum of one year of work experience after completing the basic B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is typically required. Additionally, candidates must qualify in the CG M.Sc Nursing Entrance Examination (CG MSCN) conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board.
PB B.Sc. Nursing: Candidates must be Indian citizens and possess a domicile certificate of Chhattisgarh. Applicants should have completed the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and must be registered as a nurse and midwife with the State Nursing Council. There is no specific age limit mentioned for this program. Admission is granted based on the candidate's performance in the Chhattisgarh Post Basic Nursing Entrance Examination (CG PBN), conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board.

Selection Process :- For admission to Government quota, Government share, and Open (Management) quota seats in B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, and M.Sc. Nursing courses offered by Government and Government aided/non-aided private nursing colleges, selection shall be made through an entrance examination conducted by the concerned University, Board, or any institution authorized by the State Government, and allotment shall be based on the merit secured in the said examination. Admission to the GNM course in Government and Government aided/non-aided private nursing schools/colleges shall be carried out on the basis of merit determined by the marks obtained in Class 12 (10+2), with preference given to candidates from the Biology group (PCB). Admission to the Post Basic Diploma in Clinical Speciality courses shall be conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education on the basis of marks obtained in B.Sc. Nursing and GNM, with priority given to B.Sc. Nursing candidates.
Counseling process:- Seats in government nursing colleges/schools in the state, private nursing. On the basis of merit list prepared as per rules for admission in available seats of Nursing courses in Government allocated seats of College/School and Open (Management) allocated seats of Private Nursing College/School, online counselling of eligible candidates will be done by the Directorate as follows:
After publication of the merit list, online applications will be invited for admission to seats in Chhattisgarh State. The eligibility details and other information furnished in the online application such as domicile, category, seat type, and choice of college/school shall be treated as final and will not be changed later; therefore, candidates must carefully verify their certificates in the prescribed format and for the required validity period before selecting their category or other particulars. The Directorate will conduct counselling in two phases (online/offline), and the schedule will be notified on the official website from time to time. The online counselling process will include registration, submission of preference order, seat allotment, verification of original documents, and admission to the allotted institution. A counselling fee of ₹1000 for Unreserved and OBC candidates and ₹500 for SC/ST candidates shall be payable online to the Director, Medical Education. In case of any error in the online application, corrections may be made by the applicant upon payment of a correction fee of ₹1000 within the stipulated period; no changes will be permitted after the last date. The online application and registration facility will be available only prior to the first round of counselling, and all eligible candidates must complete registration within the prescribed time. If seats remain vacant after counselling of registered candidates, fresh registrations may be allowed at the discretion of the Director; however, by that stage, seats will have been converted in accordance with reservation rules and treated as unreserved. Candidates who fail to complete the online application and registration process within the notified deadline shall not be eligible to participate in counselling. Candidates must exercise their options strictly in accordance with the counselling schedule published on the Directorate’s website and may select all available colleges/schools in order of preference. They are advised to fill multiple options, as no additional opportunity will be provided to submit fresh choices later. In-service candidates must first opt for all available Government Nursing Colleges/Schools before selecting Private Nursing Colleges/Schools. Once finalized, the priority order cannot be changed; however, if a new institution not previously displayed becomes available during the registration period, already registered candidates will be permitted to revise their priority order without payment of any amendment fee, though no fresh registrations will be accepted for this purpose. Allotment of colleges/schools will be made strictly on the basis of merit and will be published on the Directorate’s website. Candidates must regularly check the website and complete document scrutiny and admission within the stipulated time, as failure to obtain timely information shall be solely their responsibility. After allotment, candidates must appear in person at the allotted institution within the prescribed period for verification of original documents; failure to do so will result in exclusion from the counselling process for the concerned academic year. Admission to a Government Nursing College/School, once allotted, is compulsory, whereas admission to a Private Nursing College/School is optional; however, document scrutiny is mandatory for all allotted candidates. Candidates who fail to take admission in an allotted Government institution will be removed from the counselling process. Those declared eligible after scrutiny may choose either to take admission in the allotted Government institution and continue in counselling or, if allotted a Private institution, to remain in the counselling process without taking admission and participate in the next round. A candidate once allotted the same subject and institution at any stage will not be considered again for the same combination. Candidates opting for admission must download and print the allotment letter from the website and complete the admission process within the prescribed schedule. After admission, candidates must indicate on the portal whether they wish to continue in subsequent rounds or make their admission final and exit the counselling process. Upon reporting to the allotted college/school, documents will be scrutinized, and only eligible candidates shall be admitted; if any institution admits an ineligible candidate due to improper scrutiny, the responsibility for registration/enrolment or any legal consequences shall lie solely with the concerned University/Council, and this office shall not be held liable for such irregular admissions.
first phase counseling: First, candidates must complete the registration process for counselling by providing the basic required information and paying the prescribed non-refundable application fee. After successful registration, candidates will be given the opportunity to select their preferred colleges and courses/seats in order of priority. Once the options are selected, candidates must lock their preferences, as the seat allotment process will be conducted based on the locked choices and merit rank. If a candidate fails to lock the options within the stipulated time, the system will automatically lock the last saved preferences on the final date of registration. Candidates may modify their previously selected options any number of times within the specified period by unlocking them upon payment of the prescribed edit fee. The first phase of seat allotment will be published based on the candidates’ merit position and the options exercised by them.
second phase counseling: After completion of the first round of counselling, the allotment results for the remaining vacant seats will be published based on the options previously exercised by the candidates and their position in the merit list. The process for the second phase of counselling will remain the same as that of the first phase; however, the option for upgradation will not be available in the second phase.
Counselling for mop-up round: In the mop-up round, all previously exercised choices will stand cancelled, and candidates will be required to submit fresh options. Candidates who fail to exercise new choices will not be considered for allotment in the mop-up round; however, they may be given an opportunity to participate in the stray vacancy round. After completion of the second phase of counselling, the allotment results for the remaining vacant seats will be published based on the options submitted by the candidates and their merit rank. The option for upgradation will not be available in the mop-up round, and the rest of the procedure will remain the same as in the first phase of counselling. Candidates who are allotted a seat in the mop-up round will not be eligible to participate in any subsequent rounds of counselling.
stray round counseling:- If there are vacant seats after the mop-up round, stray round counselling will be conducted as per rules.
Examinations:- The entrance examination for Regular B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, and M.Sc. Nursing courses shall be conducted in the English medium. The examination will comprise a single question paper for each course.

Merit list:- Based on the marks secured in the entrance examination, separate merit lists will be prepared for candidates who are domiciled in Chhattisgarh State and for those belonging to other states. Additionally, a separate category-wise merit list for in-service candidates (SC/ST/OBC) will be prepared and published by the Board or the institution authorized by the State Government. A unified merit list comprising candidates from all categories, along with separate category-wise merit lists for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), shall be prepared. The merit lists will include details such as roll number, candidate’s name, father’s name, date of birth, category, minority status, mobile number, and marks obtained in the entrance examination. In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, the candidate older in age shall be placed higher in the merit list for the purpose of admission.
