Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi is a premier medical institute under Ranchi University, located in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, India. It is an autonomous body established through an act of the Jharkhand Assembly and is recognized as one of the leading medical colleges in the state and across India. The institute was established in 1960 and was originally named Rajendra Medical College Hospital, in honor of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. The Medical College Hospital officially began operations in February 1965. Dr. N.L. Mitra served as the first principal of the college, while Dr. K.P. Shrivastava became the first director after it was renamed as the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences. The RIMS is currently undergoing significant upgradation. The institute offers free medical services to patients, including essential medications, making healthcare more accessible to the population.

Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) Conduct Counseling for B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc nursing, ANM, GNM

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) is a government body responsible for conducting entrance exams for various professional courses in Jharkhand, including nursing programs. It organizes competitive examinations for admission to B.Sc. Nursing (Basic/Post Basic), ANM, and GNM courses in government and private nursing institutions across the state. The board ensures a transparent and merit-based selection process, enabling aspiring candidates to pursue quality nursing education and build a career in the healthcare sector.

B.Sc. Nursing (Basic/Post Basic) Entrance Competitive Examination – 2024

Online applications are invited for admission to B.Sc. Nursing (Basic/Post Basic) courses for the academic year 2024–25 in nursing institutions of the state. Only local residents of Jharkhand will be considered for admission under the reserved seat quota. If seats remain vacant after admission of all eligible local candidates, only then can candidates from other categories be considered for admission.

B.Sc Nursing

Age: The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as on 31st December 2024.

Educational Qualification:
(a) Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Science (PCB) and English Core/Elective with an aggregate of 45% marks from a recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or any other equivalent board.
(b) Candidates appearing in the 10+2 examination in Science conducted by the National Institute of Open School with 45% marks are also eligible.
(c) The candidate must be medically fit.

PB B.Sc Nursing

Educational Qualification: Passed Intermediate OR 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized university OR passed 10+1 in or before 1986. Obtained a Certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurse Registration Council.

Eligibility for Male Candidates: A male nurse trained before the implementation of the new integrated course, in addition to being registered as a Nurse with the State Nurses Registration Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by the Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas:

O.T. Techniques/ Ophthalmic Nursing/ Leprosy Nursing/ TB Nursing/ Psychiatric Nursing/ Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing/ Community Health Nursing/ Cancer Nursing/ Orthopedic Nursing

GNM

For admission to the GNM/ANM courses in the nursing institutions of the state for the academic year 2024–25, online applications are invited. All eligible candidates who are local residents of Jharkhand state will be considered for admission first, subject to seat availability. If seats remain vacant, other eligible candidates will also be given the opportunity for admission.

Seat Classification:

Government Institutions: There will be no classification of seats for admission in government institutions. All seats will be filled based on merit according to the rules prescribed by the examination conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB).

Non-Government Institutions: 50% of the seats will be categorized as Open Seats, and the remaining 50% as Management Seats.

Admission Selection Process: For government institutions, students will be admitted based on merit in the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination conducted by JCECEB. The interview process will be conducted as per the admission rules. For non-government institutions, in addition to direct admission, students will also be admitted through the entrance exam conducted by JCECEB. Participation in this entrance exam is mandatory. The Open Seats in non-government nursing institutions will be filled through the JCECEB entrance examination in the same manner as government institutions. The Management Seats in non-government institutions will also require qualifying in the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination conducted by JCECEB.

Age: Minimum and maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years as on 31st December, 2024. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.

Minimum Education:

10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually for any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However, Science is preferable. 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council. 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream – Health Care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre.

Registered ANM with pass mark. Student shall be medically fit. Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or Science examination of Health Care Science – Vocational Stream only conducted by National Institute of Open School with 40% marks.

Availability of Application Form:
Applicants can visit the website http://jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in and click on the “Click here for All Online Application Submission – JCECEB 2024” button on the homepage. After clicking, select the link “GNM Entrance Competitive Examination-2024” and follow the given instructions. If correction in the submitted application is needed, it can be made on 10.09.2024, which is the last date for corrections. Applicants must ensure all the information is correct before final submission. Online application must be submitted with a scanned photograph, signature, and documents as required. Applicants should not edit the photo, and it should not be signed across. Follow the instructions carefully and upload all required documents, otherwise the application may be rejected without prior notice.

Applicants must ensure to select their preferred exam city carefully while filling out the online form. The final exam center details will be mentioned on the Online Admit Card, which can be downloaded from the board’s website. The admit card will be available four (4) days prior to the exam date.

Examination Level and Pattern:
The entrance examination will be of 150 marks. The questions will be objective (MCQ type).

Merit List:
The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in different subjects. If two or more candidates score the same total marks, preference will be given to the one who has scored higher in Biology. If Biology marks are also equal, then preference will be given to the one who has scored higher in Chemistry. If marks in Biology and Chemistry are also equal, then preference will be given to the one with higher marks in Physics. If marks in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are also the same, then the candidate older in age will be given preference. If even the date of birth is the same, preference will be given according to the alphabetical order of the names.

Reservation:
The prevailing reservation policy of the State Government will apply to candidates belonging to the following categories: Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Extremely Backward Class (Scheduled-1) (BC-I), Backward Class (Scheduled-2) (BC-II), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Primitive Tribal Group (P.T.G.), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Physically Handicapped / Differently-abled (PH/DQ).
