B.Sc Nursing ( 4 years)-

Seat Distribution - The admission procedure is divided into two categories, i.e., the Government seat and the Management seat. KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) will be doing Counseling for 100% of seats for Government, Government aided Central Universities, and National Institutes, and 30% of seats for private colleges. 70% of Management Quota Seats Will Be filled directly by the private college.

Eligibility for B.Sc Nursing (4 years)

  • Pass in PUC / PDC (10+2) or passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by the state Govt./ Central Govt. with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry & Biology as optional subjects.
  • In the case of the stream of vocational higher secondary course conducted by the board of vocational higher secondary examination Kerala, the candidates shall have taken subjects including English, Physics, Chemistry, & Biology individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (PCBE) taken together in the qualifying examination.
  • For candidates belonging to SC, ST, or other backward classes, the mark obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English taken together in the qualifying examination should be a minimum of 40%.
  • Candidates should produce Eligibility Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka
  • The candidates should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission

Admission To  B.Sc. Nursing (Government Seat) 

The government of Karnataka in its GO AKUKA 84 MMC 2019 Bangalore dated:31-08-2019, has authorized the Directorate of Medical Education to select candidates through online counseling for admission to B. Sc Nursing, BPT, B.P.O, and B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences courses for the seats in Government colleges and Government seats in private colleges

How to apply:
Step 1:Enter all the details ONLINE by browsing the URL on the website http://kea.kar.nic.in by selecting “B.Sc Nursing, B.P.T, B.P.O,, and Allied Health Sciences-2019 Online Registration”. After completion of entry of all the details, candidates will receive an application ID and Password to their registered mobile phone number and to the email address and also the same information will be displayed on the screen.
Step 2:Upload the scanned copy of the recent passport size Colour Photograph, Signature, and Left Hand Thumb Impression in JPG / JPEG format separately.
Step 3:The candidates have to pay the requisite fee in the prescribed method.
Step 4:Take a printout of the application form on A-4 Size paper and the same copy should be produced during document verification.

GNM Nursing (3 years)

 Eligibility Criteria for GNM Nursing (3 years)

In the proviso to rule 8(5) Karnataka Nurses, Midwives, and Health Visitors rule 1964 & Act 1961 it is informed to all the Management/Principals of Schools of Nursing in Karnataka State to follow the following guidelines strictly while admitting candidates to GNM course.

  • The minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.
  • Minimum education: 10+2 class passed preferably Science (PCB) & English with an aggregate of 40% marks.
  • 10+2 in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Health care Science - Vocational stream ONLY, passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/ HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks.
  • Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or science examinations or in health care science - the vocational stream only conducted by the national institute of open school with 40% marks.
  • 10+2 vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent board with 40% marks.
  • Registered as ANM with State Nursing Registration Council.
  • The student shall be medically fit.

For Foreign Nationals

The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed

M.Sc Nursing (2 years)

M.Sc Nursing admission procedure is divided into two categories, i.e., Government seat and Management seat. KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) will be doing Counseling for 100% of seats for Government, Government aided Central Universities, and National Institutes, and 20% of seats for private colleges. 80% of State management Quota Seats Will Be filled directly by the private college.

 Eligibility for  M.Sc Nursing

 Passed in B.Sc Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing or Post Certificate B.Sc Nursing of RGUHS or any other university accepted as equivalent by RGUHS and must have obtained a minimum of not less than 55% aggregate marks. In the request of candidates belonging to SC and ST, the aggregate marks obtained be not less than 50% instead of 55% as above.

  1. A minimum of one year of experience after obtaining a B.Sc Nursing (Basic) or a minimum of one year of work experience in a hospital or in a Nursing Educational Institution is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council
  2. Registered in any state nursing council as a registered nurse and registered midwife.
  3. Candidates shall be medically fit.
  4. Age for the general category should be below 48 years and for SC/ST candidates below 50 years at the time of admission.

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)PG Entrance Test

For M.Sc Nursing Post Graduate Entrance Test- is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility for admission of students to M.Sc (Nursing courses in Government/ Private/ Aided/Unaided Minority/Non-Minority Nursing, within the State of Karnataka for the academic year 

 Post Graduate Entrance Test is being conducted for admission to Post Graduate Courses in Government colleges and Government seats in Private Colleges, in accordance with Government Orders No. HFW 14 RGU 2018, Bangalore, dated: 26-03-2018. 

Eligibility: A candidate who fulfills the following criteria is eligible to appear for the Entrance Test: 

  1. The candidate should be a citizen of India
  2. Candidate should have passed B.Sc Nursing (Basic) or B.Sc. Hons. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing degree or Post Certificate B.Sc Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka (RGUHS), or any other University located in Karnataka state, accepted as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. The institution should have been recognized by the Indian Nursing Council. SC/ST candidates should have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
  3. Passed B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing degree or Post Certificate B.Sc. Nursing of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka (RGUHS), or any other University accepted as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
  4. Minimum of one year of experience after obtaining a B.Sc. Nursing (Basic), in a Hospital or in a Nursing educational Institution or Community Health setting (completed or completing on or before the Date of Counselling. For candidates with Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing Degree, no such experience is needed after graduation.
  5. Candidate should have registered in State Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.
  6. Shall be a registered nurse and registered midwife for admission to branches
  7. The Candidate should not have attained the age of 45 years on the last date fixed for submission of an application to the PG Degree Entrance Test.
