Woodland Institute of Nursing was established in 2006 with a mandate to produce a cadre of nursing leaders at the clinical, administrative and academic levels. The Meghalaya Nursing Council (MNC) granted permission for the setting up the GNM Nursing Course vide Letter No.MNC/F17/02/2006 dated 22nd March 2006 and permission for intake of 30 student s and commencement of course vide Letter No.MNC/F1/1/2007 dated 1st February 2007.Also for the Basic B.Sc Nursing Course The Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi granted permission vide certificate no. 18-21/6083- INC, dated 25th February 2011. Same with Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Course The Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi granted permission vide certificate no. 18-21/8240 INC dated 11,h September 2012. The Institute is affiliated to North East Hill University (NEHU) a Central University Shillong for both Basic B.Sc Nursing Course and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing course respectively.

Woodland Institute of Nursing believes that Basic B.sc Nursing program will impact nursing knowledge and practical training to enhance the Nursing profession in developing competencies and skills to meet the ever demanding advancement in medical sciences in the care of the individual in illness and in health. This Institute also believes that our graduate nurses will be productive citizen and be able to provide quantity nursing care locally and globally.
Woodland Institute of Nursing offers Basic B.Sc. Nursing is a 4 (Four) years course with an intake of 40 (Forty) candidates annually in the month of June. Candidates have to fill up application form immediately after the selection.
The Institute offers Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing of 2 (two) years course with an intakes of thirty (30) candidates annually in the Month of June.
Male candidates are also eligible for the course.

The Woodland Institute of Nursing believes in the concepts of health laid down by the World Health Organization (WHO) i.e.” Health is state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of the disease or infirmity.
The school offers the course of General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M) for 3(three) year. Limited seats of 30 thirty students will be admitted annually in the month of September every year.
