Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) will conduct counseling for Nursing

B.Sc Nursing:

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), established under the J&K Legislature Act No. XXV of 2002, conducts entrance exams and recommends admissions to professional courses in J&K and Ladakh. For the 2025 academic year, BOPEE will admit candidates to B.Sc. Nursing, Para-Medical, and B.Sc. Technology courses in government and private colleges. Admission will be based on an entrance test or academic merit, depending on the number of applicants. If applications exceed seat availability, a written entrance test will be conducted as per relevant laws and regulations.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc. Nursing Programme must meet the following requirements:

Domicile: Must be a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh. For candidates from Ladakh, a valid ST certificate issued by the Competent Authority shall be considered as proof of domicile.

Age Limit: The candidate must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December 2025. The upper age limit is 35 years.

Educational Qualification:

  • Must have passed the 10+2 (Class 12) examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects, and English as a compulsory subject.
  • Candidates must secure a minimum of 45% marks in PCB for the Open Merit category, and 40% for candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST-I/ST-II/OBC/ALC/IB/RBA), taken together.
  • Candidates from recognized State Open Schools or the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with science subjects and English are also eligible.

Compulsory English: English must be a mandatory subject in the qualifying examination (10+2).

Medical Fitness: The candidate must be medically fit.

Provisional Candidates: Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the 10+2 examination are also eligible to apply and appear in the entrance test. However, they must produce the qualifying examination certificate at the time of admission in the allotted college/institute. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of their candidature.

Application Form (B.Sc. Nursing Admission – BOPEE):

  • Applications must be submitted online via www.jkbopee.gov.in within the notified dates.
  • Application Fee: ₹1000 (to be paid online using Credit/Debit Card via Integrated Payment Gateway).
  • Applicants should read the e-Brochure carefully before filling out the form.
  • Admission notification, brochure, instructions, admit card, etc., can be downloaded from the official website or accessed at Common Service Centres and NIC offices in Deputy Commissioner offices (nominal charges may apply).
  • Candidates are advised to fill the form themselves or through a trusted person.

Submission of Online Application Forms:

  • All candidates (Open Merit and Reserved Categories) must submit their Online Application Forms within the deadline mentioned in the admission notification.
  • Candidates can edit or modify their application form anytime before final submission. However, no changes are allowed after submission, so applicants should carefully review all details before submitting the form.
  • Login credentials must be kept confidential to prevent unauthorized access or changes to the application.
  • Candidates can check the status of their application on the official BOPEE website.
  • If an application remains unconfirmed due to missing information, the candidate must visit the BOPEE office before the deadline mentioned in the notification. Failure to do so will result in rejection of the application.

Photo/Signature/Thumb Impression: The candidates have to upload a recent Photo, Scanned copy of the Signature and Thumb Impression also.

Instruction for uploading Photographs/Thumb Impression/Signature: Candidates must also follow the following instructions:

  • Please ensure that the photograph is taken in a light coloured background.
  • The photograph/signature/thumb-impression images to be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format.
  • The maximum size of the photograph/signature/thumb-impression to be from 10 - 50 KB.
  • Photographs must be snapped on or after 01-01-2025.
  • Photograph must be taken with name of candidate (as written in Application Form);
  • The photograph must be snapped with a placard indicating name of candidate and date of taking photograph. In case name and date are written on the photograph after taking it, the application will be rejected,
  • The name and date on the photograph must be clear and legible.
    Photograph should be without a cap and goggles. However, spectacles are allowed.

WARNING: The Candidates are warned not to resort to any unfair/fraudulent means or act of impersonation at the time of Entrance Test or upload any objectionable material including a photo of any object, other than his/her own photograph while submitting the online form. In case, a candidate is found taking recourse to such acts, criminal prosecution shall be launched against him/her and his/her abettors. He /she shall be permanently debarred from appearing in the Entrance Test in future.

DECLARATION OF RESULT: After the Entrance Test, the answer key will be displayed on the BOPEE website either on the test date evening or by noon the next day, and it will remain available for three days. Candidates can challenge any discrepancies in the question paper or answer key by submitting a representation, along with supporting proof from a standard textbook, within three days. A fee of Rs. 1000 per representation, payable at the BOPEE office, is required. The representations will be reviewed by experts, and the final revised answer key will be uploaded. No further complaints will be entertained afterward. Candidates can request re-totaling within three days of the result declaration, with a fee of Rs. 1000. The result will be published in two local dailies and uploaded on the BOPEE website. The selection process will be notified separately.

M.Sc Nursing:

To be eligible for admission to the M.Sc. Nursing Programme, a candidate must be a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh (for Ladakh candidates, a valid ST certificate issued by the competent authority will be considered as a domicile certificate). The candidate must have passed B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with at least 55% aggregate marks. Additionally, the candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or possess an equivalent qualification registered with any State or UT Nursing Registration Council. A minimum of one year of work experience after B.Sc. Nursing or one year of work experience either prior to or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is also required.

Application Form:-

The Application Forms for admission must be submitted online only through the official BOPEE website (www.jkbopee.gov.in) using the specific URLs/links provided, within the dates to be notified separately. An application fee of Rs. 1500/- is to be paid online via the Integrated Payment Gateway using any national credit or debit card. Detailed instructions regarding the application process and eligibility are available in the e-Brochure, which candidates are strongly advised to read carefully before filling out the form. Applicants can download the admission notification, brochure, instructions, admit card, and other important information from the BOPEE website, either at any Common Service Centre in J&K for a nominal charge or at the National Informatics Centre located in the Deputy Commissioner's office of their district. Candidates are encouraged to fill out the application themselves or with the help of a responsible person. For any guidance, they may contact the BOPEE I.T. Submission of Online Application Forms:

The candidates (Both Open merit and Reserved Category) have to submit Online Application Forms only within the last date prescribed in the admission notification. The candidates can change/ modify their online Application Form at any time before they submit it. Once the form is submitted, the entries made therein cannot be changed. It is in the interest of the candidate to make double check before submitting the online Application Form. They are advised, in their own interest, not to share their login details with anybody, lest he/she may get an opportunity to change important details in the Application Form. They can check the status of their Application Form on the official website of the BOPEE. If any form is not confirmed for want of required information, the candidate concerned must report in the BOPEE office by or before the stipulated date fixed for this purpose in the admission notification, failing which his/her Application Form shall be rejected.

Certificates to be Uploaded with the Application Form: Candidates must upload scanned copies of the following original documents along with their online application form:

Photograph, Signature, and Thumb Impression: Candidates are also required to upload a recent passport-sized photograph, scanned signature, and thumb impression as part of the application process.

Instructions for Uploading Photo, Signature, and Thumb Impression:

  • The photo must be taken against a light-colored background.
  • All images (photo, signature, thumb impression) must be in JPG/JPEG format and their file size should be between 10 KB to 50 KB.
  • The photograph must have been taken on or after 01-01-2024.
  • The photo must clearly show the candidate’s name (as mentioned in the application form) and the date of the photograph.
  • The candidate should hold a placard displaying their name and the date the photo was taken. Photos with the name/date added after capturing the image will be rejected.
  • The name and date on the photograph must be clearly visible and legible.
  • The photograph should be without a cap or goggles. However, spectacles are allowed.

In case, a candidate is found taking recourse to such acts, criminal prosecution shall be launched against him/her and his/her abettors. He/she shall be permanently debarred from appearing in the Entrance Test in future.

Declaration of Result: After the Entrance Test for M.Sc. Nursing Courses 2024, the answer key will be made available on the BOPEE website either on the evening of the test day or by 12 noon the following day. It will remain online for three days to allow candidates to raise objections if they find any discrepancies in the question paper or answer key. Such objections must be supported by evidence from standard textbooks and submitted in person at the BOPEE offices in Srinagar or Jammu within three working days, along with a payment receipt of ₹1000 per representation, payable at the POS terminal at the BOPEE offices. All representations will be reviewed by subject experts, whose decision shall be final. If any corrections are made, a revised key will be uploaded on the BOPEE website. No further complaints will be entertained thereafter. Candidates may also request re-totaling of their marks within three days after the result declaration, by submitting a written request along with a ₹1000 payment receipt. Late applications for re-totaling will not be accepted. The result will be published in two local newspapers and uploaded on the official website (www.jkbopee.gov.in), and the selection process will be announced separately.

PB B.Sc Nursing:

Eligibility for Admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme: Candidates applying for admission to the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme must meet the following eligibility criteria:

i) The candidate must be a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh. For candidates from UT of Ladakh, an ST certificate issued by the Competent Authority of Ladakh shall be considered as a domicile certificate.
ii) The candidate must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board and must have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). Additionally, the candidate must be registered as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (R.N.R.M.) with the J&K Nursing Council. In the case of male nurses trained before the implementation of the new Integrated Course, registration as a nurse with the J&K Nursing Council is required along with evidence of training approved by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery. This training should be in any of the following specializations: Operation Theatre Techniques, Ophthalmic Nursing, Leprosy Nursing, Tuberculosis Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Cancer Nursing, or Orthopedic Nursing.
iii) Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the final year/semester examination of the GNM course in 2025 and whose results are awaited may also apply. However, they must produce their final year/semester marks card at the time of admission; failing to do so will result in the cancellation of their candidature without any further notice.
iv) The candidate must be medically fit.

GNM & ANM

GNM Eligibility Criteria:

A candidate must:

  • be a domicile of UT of J&K/UT of Ladakh as the case may be (For Candidates belonging to UT of Ladakh, ST certificate issued by Competent authority of Ladakh shall be treated as Domicile certificate).
  • be 17 years old and not more than 35 years old as on 31-12-2024
  • have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from recognized Board with Science/Arts and English securing minimum aggregate 40% marks for Open Merit Candidates and 35% marks for Reserved Category candidates;
  • have passed 10+2 with English having 40% marks in Vocational stream Health Care Science from a recognized CBSE Board/Centre
  • The candidates appearing/appeared in 10+2 (12th Class) examination 2024 can also apply, provided such candidates have qualified the examination at the time of declaration of the result in the Entrance Test /at the date of counselling as may be notified by the Board.

However, for Lateral entry to GNM courses, candidates having Diploma in FMPHW / MMPHW/ANM course registered with J&K Paramedical Nursing Council be eligible for GNM course and there will be no age bar for such candidates.

Registered ANM with 40% marks. be medically fit. The candidates appearing/appeared in 10+2 (12th Class) examination 2024 can also apply, provided such candidates have qualified the examination at the time of declaration of the result in the Entrance Test /at the date of counselling as may be notified by the Board.

ANM Eligibility Criteria:

  • be a domicile of UT of J&K/UT of Ladakh as the case may be (For Candidates belonging to UT of Ladakh, ST certificate issued by Competent authority of Ladakh shall be treated as Domicile certificate);
  • be 17 years old and not more than 35 years old as on 31-12-2024.
  • have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from recognized Board with Science/Arts and English securing minimum aggregate 40 % marks in aggregate.
  • be medically fit. The candidates appearing/appeared in 10+2 (12th Class) examination 2024 can also apply, provided such candidates have qualified the examination at the time of declaration of the result in the Entrance Test /at the date of counselling as may be notified by the Board. Their Entrance Test result shall remain withheld unless they produce the necessary certificate of qualifying the 10+2 (12th Class) examination.
  • have qualified in 10+2 Arts or science examination conducted by National Institute of Open school can also apply
