The Government College of Nursing, situated within the R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital campus in Kolkata, is a government institution affiliated with the West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC) and the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) for its undergraduate B.Sc. Nursing program, which has an annual intake of 60 students. Its parent institution, R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, was established in 1886 and is renowned as one of the oldest and most prestigious medical institutions in India. Originally founded as Asia’s first non-governmental medical college, it aimed to promote self-sufficiency (Swaraj) in medical education and healthcare during British rule. The college was affiliated with the University of Calcutta from 1916 until 2003, after which it came under WBUHS. Today, it houses the largest government-run hospital in West Bengal and celebrated its centenary in 2016, marking over 100 years of dedicated service in medical education and healthcare.

JENPAS2025-UG (Joint Entrance Test for Nursing, Paramedical, and Allied Sciences) will conduct counseling for B.Sc. Nursing admission in West Bengal

WBJEEB will conduct OMR-based Common Entrance Test JENPAS(UG)-2026 for admission in various Colleges/ Institutes in the State of West Bengal for the academic session 2026-27

Eligibility criteria : The applicant must be a citizen of India and a domicile of West Bengal. The applicant must have passed Class 12 under the 10+2 system or must be appearing for the Class 12 examination in 2026. For B.Sc. Nursing and all other Allied Health Science courses, the applicant must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age as on 31.12.2026. For admission to B.Sc. Nursing through JENPAS(UG)-2026, only female candidates are eligible for seats in Government colleges, while female candidates are generally eligible for admission in private colleges, although a few private colleges may be exclusively designated for male candidates. For all other courses, both male and female candidates are eligible for admission in Government and private colleges.

Papers and ranks:

• Candidates appearing in both Paper I and Paper II are eligible for both General Merit Rank (GMR) and BHA Merit Rank (BMR). Such candidates will be considered for admission in all courses, including BHA.
• Candidates appearing only in paper-I are eligible for GMR only. Such candidates are considered for admission in all courses except in BHA.
• Candidates appearing only in Paper-II are eligible for BMR only. Such candidates are considered for admission in BHA only.

Pattern of Question Papers :

• The test will consist of two papers, namely, Paper I and Paper II.
• Paper-II is for admission in the BHA course only, and Paper-I is for other courses.
• During application, a candidate can apply for only Paper-I or only Paper-II or for both.

F. All questions will be of Multiple- Choice Question (MCQ) type, with four answer options. Time for each paper is 1½ hours. The questions will be in both English and Bengali (except Basic English, Logical Reasoning, and General Knowledge).

Counselling/seat allotment and provisional admission: A separate notification outlining the counselling, seat allotment, and admission procedures will be published on the Board’s official website shortly after the declaration of the results. The course-wise and institute-wise details of available seats, as provided by the respective Competent Authorities, will also be published on the website before the commencement of the counselling and seat allotment process.

Procedure for submission of the application form, payment of examination fees:

Ranking Methodology and Merit Lists: WBJEEB will prepare merit ranks based on the candidates’ scores in the Common Entrance Test. Individual candidates will be able to view and download his/her Rank Card, which will contain their score and rank. WBJEEB does not publish any rank/score list for public release to ensure the confidentiality of each individual candidate. Based on the papers (subjects) appeared for and the marks scored, two separate Merit Ranks shall be generated in the following method:

1. General Merit Rank: (GMR) : A General Merit Rank (GMR) will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Paper-I, with candidates ranked in descending order of their scores. In case of a tie between candidates, the tie-breaking rules specified in Section 2.8 will be applied. Separate category-wise merit ranks, such as SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, EWS Rank, PwD Rank, and other applicable reserved category ranks, will also be provided for candidates belonging to the respective categories. Admission to all courses, except BHA, will be based on the General Merit Rank. The sequence for counselling, seat allotment, and admission will be determined solely on the basis of the GMR and not on category-specific ranks. Category ranks are provided for the information and reference of candidates belonging to the respective reserved categories only.
2. BHA Merit Rank: (BMR) : A BHA Merit Rank (BMR) will be prepared based solely on the marks obtained in Paper-II, with candidates ranked in descending order of their scores. In case of a tie between candidates, the tie-breaking rules specified in Section 2.8 will be applied. Separate category-wise merit ranks, including SC, ST, OBC-Category-A (More Backward), OBC-Category-B (Backward), PwD, EWS, and other applicable reserved categories, will also be indicated for candidates belonging to the respective categories. Admission to the BHA course will be based on the BHA Merit Rank (BMR), and the sequence for seat allotment will be determined solely on the basis of the BMR and not on category-specific ranks. Category ranks are provided for the information and reference of candidates belonging to the respective reserved categories only.
3. Category rank: Category ranks are generated based on the category information given by the candidates during online application, but documents are verified during counselling/ admission. Hence, the candidate’s certificates/documents/proofs must be valid as of the date of verification. If, during verification, any candidate’s claim is found invalid at that time, his/her category rank will be cancelled, and the candidate will be considered in the general category. The category ranks of other candidates will not be revised.

Document verification: Admit Cards and Rank Cards are issued based on the information provided by the candidate, and all details are subject to verification by the allotted institute during and after the counselling process. Therefore, candidates should not consider the personal information mentioned on the Admit Card or Rank Card as final approval by the Board. During document verification, if the allotted institute finds that any information provided by the candidate is incorrect, or if the candidate fails to produce valid certificates, documents, or supporting proof as required under the applicable rules and valid on the date of verification, the information may be corrected or modified accordingly. Such corrections may result in the candidate becoming ineligible for some or all seats or courses. Furthermore, if at any stage during or after counselling, it is found that the information or documents submitted by a candidate are false, incorrect, or invalid, the candidate’s candidature may be cancelled, even if a Merit Rank has been secured or a seat has already been allotted. Therefore, obtaining a Merit Rank does not guarantee or establish a right to admission unless the candidate fulfills all prescribed eligibility and verification requirements.

ANM(R) & GNM will conduct counseling for ANM and GNM admission in West Bengal:

WBJEEB will conduct OMR based Common Entrance Examination– ANM(R) & GNM-2026 for admission in various Govt./ Pvt./ Self-financed institutes in the State of West Bengal for the academic session of 2026-27, for two (2) years’ Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (Revised) course and three (3) years’ General Nursing & Midwifery course in.

Eligibility criteria:-

Pattern of Question Paper:

All questions will be Multiple- Choice Questions (MCQs) with four answer options. The paper is 1½ hours long. The questions will be in both English and the Bengali language (except Basic English and Logical Reasoning).

Syllabus: Life Science, Physical Science, and Mathematics will be based on the 10th-standard syllabi of recognised Boards/Councils in India, and Basic English, General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning will be equivalent to the 12th-standard curriculum.

Counselling/seat allotment and provisional admission:- A separate notification containing detailed information regarding the counselling, seat allotment, and admission procedures will be published on the official websites of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), www.wbjeeb.in and www.wbjeeb.nic.in, after the declaration of the results. The course-wise and institute-wise details of available seats, as provided by the respective Competent Authorities, will also be published on the official websites before the commencement of the counselling and seat allotment process.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATION FORM AND PAYMENT OF EXAMINATION FEES:-

1. Registration: During registration, candidates must enter their personal details, including their name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, gender, identification type and number, present and permanent address, mobile number, email ID, and other required information. Candidates must carefully verify their name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, and domicile, as these details cannot be changed, edited, or modified under any circumstances after submission. Candidates must then create a password and submit the registration form. Upon successful registration, an application number will be generated and displayed on the screen, and the same will also be sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number and email ID via SMS/email. In case a candidate forgets their password, it can only be recovered through the “Forgot Password” option available on the portal, as no other method of password recovery will be provided. Since no person or agency can access, enter, or modify application information without the candidate’s password, candidates must keep their password confidential and must not share it with anyone. The Board will not be responsible for any unauthorized changes or consequences resulting from the sharing or disclosure of the password.
2. Application: At this stage, candidates are required to provide additional information, including domicile, category, PwD status, family income, religion, nationality, academic qualifications, and other relevant details. Thereafter, candidates must select any four preferred examination zones in order of priority and submit the completed application form after carefully reviewing all the information provided.
3. Uploading of images: Candidates are required to upload a recent colour photograph in JPG/JPEG format, with a file size between 10 KB and 200 KB, and their signature in JPG/JPEG format, with a file size between 4 KB and 30 KB. The photograph and signature must be uploaded together in a single step as part of the application process.
4. Payment of Examination Fees : The examination fee can be paid only through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, QR Code, or UPI, along with applicable bank service charges. The application fee is ₹300 (Rupees Three Hundred only) for SC/ST/OBC-Category-A (More Backward)/OBC-Category-B (Backward)/EWS/Orphan candidates and ₹400 (Rupees Four Hundred only) for all other candidates. The examination fee, once paid, is non-refundable under any circumstances.
5. Confirmation Page : Upon successful completion of all the above steps, the candidate shall be directed to download the ‘Confirmation Page’ to indicate that the application is complete. The application will remain INCOMPLETE UNTIL THE CONFIRMATION PAGE IS GENERATED.
6. Correction of application form: Candidates cannot make any changes to the primary registration details, including their name, father’s name, mother’s name, domicile, and date of birth. However, candidates may correct other information provided in their application by logging into the application portal during the specified correction period. The Board will not entertain any requests for corrections after the correction period has ended under any circumstances. Candidates are solely responsible for making the necessary corrections within the prescribed period, as the Board will not make any corrections or modifications on behalf of any candidate.

Document verification:- Admit Cards and Rank Cards are issued based on the information provided by the candidate, while all details are subject to verification by the allotted institute during and after the counselling and admission process. Therefore, candidates should not consider the personal information mentioned on the Admit Card as final acceptance or approval by the Board. If, during the verification process, any claim made by a candidate is found to be invalid or incorrect, the corresponding category rank may be cancelled, corrected, or modified accordingly, which may result in the candidate becoming ineligible for some or all seats or courses. In such cases, the candidate will be considered under the General Category in the subsequent round of counselling, if any. Therefore, securing a rank does not guarantee or establish a right to admission unless the candidate fulfills all prescribed eligibility and verification requirements.

Candidates can view and download their individual Rank Cards, which will contain their scores and ranks. To maintain the confidentiality of candidates’ results, WBJEEB will not publish any rank or score lists for public disclosure. Separate General Merit Ranks (GMR) will be prepared for ANM(R) and GNM, with candidates ranked in descending order of their marks in the respective entrance test. In case of a tie, the tie-breaking rules specified in Section 2.7 will be applied. Separate category-wise merit ranks, including SC, ST, OBC-Category-A (More Backward), OBC-Category-B (Backward), PwD, EWS, Orphan, CD, and other applicable categories, will also be indicated for eligible candidates. The sequence for counselling, seat allotment, and admission will be determined solely on the basis of the GMR and not on category-specific ranks, which are provided for the information and reference of candidates belonging to the respective categories. Category ranks are generated based on the category information declared by candidates during the online application process; however, all relevant certificates, documents, and supporting proofs are subject to verification by the allotted institute during counselling/admission and must be valid as of the date of verification. If any category claim is found to be invalid during verification, the candidate’s category rank may be cancelled, corrected, or modified accordingly, which may result in the candidate becoming ineligible for some or all seats or courses. In such cases, the candidate will be considered under the General Category in the subsequent round of counselling, if any, while the category ranks of other candidates will remain unchanged.
