The online application for admission to Paramedical Degree Courses in Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges and Government quota seats in Self-Financing Colleges affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, is available at www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in and www.tnmedicalselection.org. Candidates must regularly visit these websites for updates throughout the admission process, as the Selection Committee will not be held responsible for any consequences arising from failure to follow updates, notifications, or announcements published online. Those unable to access the online application can visit the nearest Government Medical College, Government Dental College, or Tamil Nadu Facilitation Centre (TFC) in districts without medical colleges, along with their parent or guardian and original certificates, to use the available facilities to apply. Applicants are strongly advised to download and carefully read the prospectus with their parents or guardians before completing the application, ensuring that all mandatory fields are properly filled. Incomplete or incorrectly filled applications will be rejected, and no requests for reconsideration will be entertained. In case of any confusion, candidates should refer to both Tamil and English versions of the prospectus for clarity.
Eligibility:- Candidates must have passed all subjects in the qualifying Higher Secondary Course examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other recognized equivalent board in the prescribed group of subjects, securing a minimum of 45% aggregate marks, while candidates belonging to reserved categories are required to obtain not less than 40% aggregate marks in the same subjects to be eligible.

ONLINE COUNSELLING PROCEDURE (SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM): The online counselling schedule will be published exclusively on the official website, and candidates must lock their choices of courses and colleges within the stipulated time. Admission to Paramedical Degree courses shall be carried out through counselling strictly on the basis of merit and in accordance with the applicable reservation rules. Counselling for Special Categories, including Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Disability, will be conducted prior to General Category counselling, and no re-allotment or change of college will be permitted for candidates admitted under the Special Category. To participate in online counselling, candidates are required to pay a processing fee of ₹250 through the online bank payment portal. During choice filling, candidates may select any number of eligible courses and colleges, and seat allotment will be made based on their preferences, merit, and the rule of reservation.

REPORTING : Candidates who are allotted seats must download their provisional allotment order and report in person to the allotted Medical College or Institution within the date and time specified, along with the original certificates and their copies, to join the course. Applicants who applied but did not participate or were not allotted seats in the first round of counselling may participate in subsequent rounds, while only those candidates who joined the course in the first phase of counselling are eligible for re-allotment in later phases; the schedule for such counselling will be published on the official website, and no individual intimation will be issued. Movement of candidates from self-financing to Government colleges and from one Government college to another shall be permitted strictly on the basis of merit and in accordance with the applicable reservation rules, with the counselling dates announced on the website. Vacancies arising after the first round, as well as any additional seats approved due to new colleges, will be filled through subsequent rounds of online counselling if required. No re-allotment will be allowed within self-financing colleges, and individual or mutual requests for transfer of course or college will not be entertained.
MERIT LIST: Merit List will be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying examinations reduced to the base of 200 marks. The marks obtained through different Boards will be taken into account after normalization.

Candidates seeking admission to the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing course must complete and upload the online application form along with all required enclosures on or before 19.08.2025 up to 5:00 PM. Requests for extension of the application deadline or for uploading documents after the specified date and time will not be entertained, and no applications or supporting documents will be accepted after the due date. Candidates selected under the General Category will not be permitted to claim Special Category status, and vice versa. Applicants seeking admission under the Special Category, including the Differently Abled category, must upload the prescribed certificates in the formats specified in Annexure-I and Annexure-II. All candidates, including those applying under the Differently Abled category, must have normal function of both upper limbs, vision, and hearing.
Eligibility:- Candidates belonging to all categories must have passed the Diploma in Nursing examination along with the Higher Secondary course or an equivalent examination recognized by the University and should be registered as Nurse and Midwife with the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council or any other State Nursing Council. Additionally, candidates must have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and be registered as R.N.R.M. or its equivalent with the respective State Nurses Registration Council or any other recognized State Nursing Council.

Note: Candidates selected under the Differently Abled category are exempted from payment of Tuition Fee and Special Fee. In addition, students belonging to SC/SCA/ST communities whose parents’/guardians’ annual income is below ₹2,50,000, and SC converted Christian students whose parents’/guardians’ annual income is below ₹2,00,000, are exempted from payment of all compulsory, non-refundable fees, including Enrollment/Registration, Tuition, Games, Union, Library, Magazine, Medical Examination, and any other fees compulsorily payable to the Institution or University/Board, as well as fees fixed by the Fee Committee. The exempted fees will be claimed by the respective institutions under the Government of India Scholarship Programme, in accordance with G.O.(Ms.) No.6 dated 09.01.2012, G.O.(Ms.) No.51 dated 07.08.2013, and G.O.(Ms.) No.92 dated 11.09.2012 of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department. Selected candidates must produce the original mark sheet of the qualifying examination and other original documents such as proof of age, Community Certificate, and Transfer Certificate at the time of admission to the Dean of the concerned Medical College/Institution; failure to submit all required original documents, including the Transfer Certificate, will result in cancellation of selection.

(Nursing) excluding the leave for which the candidate is eligible/ availed other than casual and compensatory leave. j) Candidates of Tamil Nadu origin who had studied in other Universities and other States have to upload their Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai–600 032. Note: Candidates belonging to BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, SC, and SCA communities must upload their original community certificate issued by the competent Revenue Authority of the concerned area. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribe category are required to upload their permanent community card issued by the respective Revenue Divisional Officer. All required certificates must be uploaded in the prescribed format along with the online application. Community certificates issued by authorities of other states will not be accepted, and such candidates will be considered under the Open Competition category. |
REPORTING:- The allotted candidates should download their provisional allotment order and join the course in the allotted Medical College/Institution in person before the date and time specified in the allotment order along with the Originals and copies of the Certificates.
MERIT LIST : -The merit list for admission to the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing course will be prepared out of a total of 100 marks, comprising 90 marks based on the Diploma in Nursing examination and 10 marks awarded for work experience. Experience marks shall be granted at the rate of one mark for each completed year of experience as on 31.05.2025, calculated from the last date of the month in which the Diploma in Nursing examination was passed, subject to a maximum of 10 marks, and shall be applicable to both service and non-service candidates. In the event of two or more candidates securing the same aggregate marks, inter-se merit shall be determined in the following order of preference: candidates with the least number of attempts in the final year Diploma in Nursing examination, higher marks in Psychiatry or Midwifery in the Diploma in Nursing examination, and seniority in age.
