The St. Barnabas Hospital College of Nursing (SBHCON) , Ranchi was established in 2015 with the motto: Education, Service, Leadership & Innovation. The primary aim of the nursing program is to prepare graduate nurses to serve as frontline healthcare professionals in both clinical and community settings, as well as in educational roles. SBHCON is committed to developing leaders in the nursing profession by offering unique and innovative programs that are tailored to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare sector in India. The curriculum is designed with a holistic approach to nursing care, fostering the all-round development of students in both personal and professional aspects. Student nurses are trained to uphold high standards of professionalism and clinical excellence. The parent hospital, St. Barnabas Hospital, provides essential hands-on clinical experience, making this a hospital-based academic program. The Government of Jharkhand granted permission to start the nursing courses through its official order. The Indian Nursing Council has recognized the B.Sc. Nursing program, with an approved intake of 40 seats. The program is also recognized by the Jharkhand Nursing Council and is affiliated with Ranchi University.

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) is a government body responsible for conducting entrance exams for various professional courses in Jharkhand, including nursing programs. It organizes competitive examinations for admission to B.Sc. Nursing (Basic/Post Basic), ANM, and GNM courses in government and private nursing institutions across the state. The board ensures a transparent and merit-based selection process, enabling aspiring candidates to pursue quality nursing education and build a career in the healthcare sector.
Online applications are invited for admission to B.Sc. Nursing (Basic/Post Basic) courses for the academic year 2024–25 in nursing institutions of the state. Only local residents of Jharkhand will be considered for admission under the reserved seat quota. If seats remain vacant after admission of all eligible local candidates, only then can candidates from other categories be considered for admission.
Age: The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as on 31st December 2024.
Educational Qualification:
(a) Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Science (PCB) and English Core/Elective with an aggregate of 45% marks from a recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or any other equivalent board.
(b) Candidates appearing in the 10+2 examination in Science conducted by the National Institute of Open School with 45% marks are also eligible.
(c) The candidate must be medically fit.
