St. John’s College of Nursing is one of the five institutions under the St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences. It enters into the 30th year of its existence in Nursing Education. Right from its inception in 1989, it endeavors to equip students with the competencies necessary for rendering holistic care in all evolving settings. The programs offered are General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM), Basic B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care (NPCC) & Ph.D. in Nursing (Med.Surg.Nsg.). The College is recognized by the INC(Indian Nursing Council)and KSNC (Karnataka State Nursing Council) and is affiliated with RGUHS(Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences), Karnataka, and KSDNEB (Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board).

Extension of the Last date for Applications for Admissions to Nursing 

In view of the uncertainty with regard to the completion of Standard 12/ II PUC examinations and announcement of results caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the last date for application for admission to all Nursing and Allied Health Sciences courses, except GNM, has been extended to Friday, 31 July 2020. The last date of application for the GNM course remains 14 August 2020.

COURSE DETAILS AND ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION 

Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course: 

Eligibility Criteria

  • The College admits only female candidates
  • The candidates should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December, 2020
  • Minimum Educational qualification is pass in the Pre-University Examination of Karnataka Board of Pre-University Education with an aggregate of 45% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects (40% for SC&ST Candidates) Or any other examination recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences as equivalent to 2 years PUC. English as a subject in PUC is mandatory. EQUIVALENCY IS DETERMINED ONLY BY THE RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, BANGALORE.
  • Students’ awaiting results may also apply.
  • Religious Sisters should have completed one year after their religious profession & should not be beyond 35 years of age.

Selection:

 Candidates who meet the above requirements are required to appear for an entrance test of one hour in Physics, Chemistry & Biology of the Pre-University Level. The entrance Test & Interview will be conducted at College of Nursing, Bangalore. Students awaiting PU result may also appear for the Entrance & Interview, but admission will be confirmed only after declaration of their result subject to the candidate securing requisite marks.

 Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course: 

Eligibility Criteria 

  • The College admits only female candidates
  • Passed Pre-University Examination of Karnataka or its equivalent which is recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences:
  • Possess certificates of General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized School of Nursing.
  • Be a Registered Nurse under the State Nursing Council
  • Be a member of TNAI
  • Not above 46 years of age.

 Applicants who fulfill the admission requirement will be called for a personnel interview at the College of Nursing. 

General Nursing & Midwifery Course:

Eligibility Criteria

  • The College admits only female candidates
  • Minimum & Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV.
  • 10+2 class passed preferably sciences (PCB) & English with an aggregate of 40% marks.
  • 10+2 vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent board from the school and recognized by Indian Nursing Council with 40% marks.
  • Religious sisters, who apply should have completed one year after their first religious profession.
  • Students awaiting result also may apply

How to Apply: Download the application form from our website www.stjohns.in fill the application form and attach the following documents along with the application. 

  1. Xerox copies of the qualifying exam and certificate showing Date of Birth.
  2. If SC/ST, a certificate issued by the Tahsildar
  3. A Demand draft for Rs. 250/- (Application form fees) drawn in favour of St. John’s College of Nursing and made payable in Bangalore. This amount is not refundable.

 It is the responsibility of the candidate to complete the application and the enclosures correctly. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Selection :

Applicants who fulfill the admission requirement will have an interview. Admission is subject to performance in Interview followed by document verification

M.Sc. Nursing course 

Eligibility Criteria

  • The College admits only female candidates
  • Minimum Educational qualification is B.Sc. Nursing Degree of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka OR any of the other universities considered to an equivalent by the RGUHS.
  • One-year Experience (after B.Sc. (N) Result) in any clinical/teaching areas, either in a hospital or in a community.
  • Minimum one-year experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
  • B.Sc. (N) course Registration with the State Nursing Council
  • 55% marks in first attempt at B.Sc. /PBBSc Nursing Examination. For SC/ST of Karnataka State only 50%.

 M.Sc (N) in Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Nursing (NPCC)

Eligibility Criteria

  • The college admits only women candidates.
  • Applicants must possess a registered B.Sc. Nurse with a minimum of one year clinical experience in any critical care setting prior to enrolment.
  • Must have undergone B.Sc. Nursing in an institution recognized by INC.
  • Must have scored not less than 55% aggregate marks in the B.Sc. program.
  • Should be a registered nurse in state nursing council

Fee Structure

Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course:

Fees Approximate fees to be paid for the First year: With Hostel: Rs. 1,01,920/- Without Hostel Rs. 86,420/- 2 nd, 3rd & 4th year fees will be approximately Rs. 85,000/- Mess fee is Rs. 2,000/- per month

 Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course: 

Fees Approximate fee to be paid for the First year: With Hostel: Rs. 99,050/- Without Hostel Rs. 83,550/-) 2 nd year fees will be approximately Rs. 83,000/- Mess fee is Rs. 2,000/- per month.

General Nursing & Midwifery Course:

Fees Approximate to be paid for the First year: With Hostel: Rs.52,850/- Without Hostel Rs. 37,350/-) 2 nd& 3rd year fees will be approximately Rs. 42,000/- each year. Mess fee is Rs. 2,000/- per month.

M.Sc. Nursing course: 

Fees Approximate fee to be paid for the First year: With Hostel: Rs. 1,28,250/- Without Hostel Rs. 1,12,750/-) 2 nd year fees will be approximately Rs.1,12,000/- Mess fee is Rs. 2,000/- per month

M.Sc (N) in Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Nursing (NPCC) 

Fees Approximate fee to be paid for the First year: With Hostel: Rs. 1,65,500/- Without Hostel Rs. 1,50,000/-) 2 nd fees will be approximately Rs. 1,65,500/- Mess fee is Rs. 2,000/- per month.

*Stipend M.Sc.(N) in NPCC students will receive a monthly stipend during the course
